Endometrial Cancer

Understanding Endometrial Cancer

Endometrial cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus. It is important to seek medical advice for abnormal vaginal bleeding, particularly bleeding after menopause.

At Divine Care, we provide evaluation and guidance for women experiencing abnormal bleeding and other concerning gynaecological symptoms.

Possible Symptoms

Symptoms can vary from person to person. Some possible warning signs include:

  • Vaginal bleeding after menopause
  • Bleeding between menstrual periods
  • Unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding
  • Abnormal vaginal discharge
  • Pelvic pain or discomfort

These symptoms do not necessarily mean cancer, but persistent or unusual bleeding should always be properly evaluated.

Diagnosis and Evaluation

The evaluation may begin with a detailed medical history and gynaecological examination. Depending on the clinical findings, further tests may be recommended.

  • Pelvic examination
  • Ultrasound evaluation
  • Endometrial sampling or biopsy when indicated
  • Hysteroscopic evaluation in selected cases
  • Further imaging or specialist investigations when required

Management and Treatment

Treatment depends on the type and extent of the disease, along with the patient's overall health and individual circumstances.

Management may involve surgery and, when required, additional treatment such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy or specialist oncology care.

Importance of Early Evaluation

Abnormal bleeding should not be ignored. Early consultation allows appropriate investigation and helps identify the underlying cause so that suitable treatment or referral can be planned.
